Frequently asked questions

How does a will differ from a trust?

A trust takes effect immediately after it’s funded and allows you to avoid probate, control asset distribution, and plan for incapacity.

A will goes into effect after death, designates guardians for minor children, and outlines asset distribution and final arrangements.

Do I need a certain amount of assets to create a will or trust?

An estate plan (such as a will or trust) is for everyone – whether you have large or small assets, children or pets, a spouse or partner, or fall anywhere in between. An estate plan helps ensure that your final wishes are executed and may help keep your estate out of probate court. (Probate is a legal process to distribute a deceased person's estate; most people prefer to avoid it because of the cost and time required.)

Trust & Will charges a flat fee for each plan, regardless of the size or number of assets.

Does Trust & Will assist with registering my documents?

Yes. Trust & Will provides state-specific guidance on registration requirements for your documents.

Is it self-service or is there someone to walk me through the process?

Trust & Will’s platform is designed for self-service, but their customer support team is available to guide you every step of the way. You can also add attorney support to your plan at any time for $299.
